WHO AM I?
Such a question!
Here are a few insufficient answers.
I am an American writer living in Canada. This tends to make me feel alternately continental and displaced.
I was born during a mid-winter flu epidemic and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, with Laura Ingalls' braids, glasses, asthma, and allergies. A loner and bookworm, I related to the rosy-cheeked, shawl-wrapped consumptives I found in plays and literature and my best childhood friends included Bilbo, Mary Lennox, Jo March, Puck, Smike, and the Wart.
I studied theater at the Cleveland Playhouse, Northwestern University, and The Chautauqua Institute and have played many roles, including the female lead in several Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.
I am currently pursuing an ALM in Creative Writing and Literature at Harvard Extension School while working on a high fantasy novel which explores the interplay between faith, power, and politics.
